Chamber Services & Councils
The Chattanooga Area Chamber's programs and services help individual businesses succeed, strengthen the area's commercial vitality and create a more prosperous community. Chamber programs and services support the mission of growing our economy. We believe as our economy grows, businesses will profit. To some, the benefit might be a larger customer base; to others, a more skilled workforce. Serving businesses from single employee operations to companies with more than 2,000 employees, your Chamber strives to create more prosperity for the Chattanooga area.
Ambassadors The Chattanooga Chamber Ambassadors are made up of Chamber volunteers who serve as the public relations team for the Chamber. These volunteers visit new Chamber members and call on existing members throughout the year. Ambassadors also represent the Chamber at grand openings and ribbon cuttings. (More)
Area Councils The Chamber sponsors 11 Area Councils which are member-driven, volunteer organizations located in specific geographical areas. The Councils hold monthly meetings and provide opportunities for members to be involved in solving problems, discussing issues and implementing special projects and events for the benefit of the area being served. Award & Events The Chamber hosts five major events each year to recognize outstanding organizations and individuals in the Chattanooga business community, as well as to update members on the state of their Chamber. Events include the Business Expo, the Small Business Awards the Spirit of Innovation Awards, the Chamber's Annual Meeting and the Chattanooga Nautilus Awards. (More)
Business Development Center Located on Cherokee Boulevard, the BDC is owned by the county and managed by the Chattanooga Area Chamber of Commerce. The BDC offers start-up businesses office or manufacturing space at below-market rental rates. Tenants have access to BDC clerical support, fax machine, copier and postage machine. The Tennessee Small Business Development Center, which has offices in the BDC, provides a business library, computer and video centers, and business counseling services, available to BDC entrepreneurs, free of charge. Chattanooga Insight Individuals who are new to the Chattanooga area, or new to a leadership position, will want to attend Chattanooga Insight, an abbreviated version of Leadership Chattanooga. Economic Development The Chamber leads the economic development initiatives for this region, working as a catalyst for job growth. This work includes strategic planning, locational audits, industry target analysis, and domestic and international recruitment. As a tool in this effort, the Chamber coordinates an aggressive marketing campaign to underscore the strategic advantages of doing business in Chattanooga. (More)
Education Initiative The Education Initiative grew out of a need perceived by the business community for a highly skilled labor force in the Chattanooga area. Through the Initiative, the Chamber works collaboratively with public and private school systems, higher education institutions, business and industry, private foundations and community agencies in an effort to represent the issues, interests and concerns of the business community in helping to develop a highly skilled labor force and educated citizenry within Chattanooga's metropolitan area. Leadership Chattanooga Sponsored by the Chattanooga Chamber Foundation, Leadership Chattanooga is a 10-month leadership development program that identifies people of promise in early- or mid-career, familiarizes them with community issues and services and develops their leadership skills to prepare them for prominent business, cultural, and political roles. Public Policy The Chamber's Public Policy Committee serves as an advocate for Chattanooga area businesses. This committee gives you and your business a voice in local, state and federal government on business issues.
Small Business & Entrepreneurship Committee (SB&E) The Chamber has several programs specific to small business, which accounts for more than 80 percent of the Chamber's membership. The Small Business & Entrepreneurship Committee meets monthly to discuss topics relevant to the small business owner (those with fewer than 200 employees). The Committee also organizes the Small Business Awards and Expo. The Chamber's award-winning Business Development Center was created to help launch fledgling entrepreneurs and currently has 78 office and light manufacturing suites. (More)
Workforce Development The Chamber's Workforce Development Program brings businesses and services together to address the region's workforce needs. The program's goal is to insure that an available labor force with the skills and education necessary to meet employment demands of the 21st century is produced and retained within the Chattanooga area. Immediate response is provided to a company downsizing or closing, with an emphasis on finding employment and retraining opportunities for displaced workers.
